#40 - Dressing for your shape
I feel like I'm starting to lose track of which shoes I've actually worn, so I'm just wondering, how are you all managing your shoe collection for the shoe challenge? Maybe I need to rearrange my shoes so that the ones I've yet to wear are stored on top. I've actually taken photos of most of my shoes, so I should probably just put them all in 'worn' and 'not worn' folders on my computer...Anyway, today I wanted to talk about dressing for your body shape. There are a lot of books out there about this (most of them probably by Trinny & Susannah), and when I was at Borders today looking at shoe books, there was a lady standing next to me looking at these types of books. I don't worry about this sort of thing too much myself, because I want to wear whatever clothes I like, regardless of whether they look any good on me or not. I guess I try to take a more positive view of these things, too - we're all different, but maybe that's not such a bad thing. Maybe we shouldn't necessarily try to hide all of the so-called flaws that make us different. The outfit I'm wearing today is, I believe, the type of oufit I 'should' be wearing according to some of these books (outfit with ruffled top, enhanced waist, flared skirt). I like it, but I wouldn't want to wear it every day - I much prefer knit tops to blouses.
I have very few pairs of black shoes, and I often feel like I should have more. Today's shoes weren't quite as matching as I would've liked! I did once order a pair of shoes online in the same colour as my blouse, but somehow I got sent the wrong size, and it didn't work out. Anyway, I got a few things in the mail today - 2 dresses (yay!) and these shoes, which I ordered on impulse. I don't actually know if I like them or not. I love anything to do with wings and angels, so when I saw these shoes, I had to buy them. But they are actually very casual, and they remind me of sneakers (well, they are made by adidas, I suppose!). I went back to work today, and I still feel pretty weak and tired from my illness, so I was struggling to walk in heels. Still, I might attempt to wear some of my D&G shoes tomorrow, if I feel brave enough to take on the cobblestones in 4.5 inch heels...
This outfit looks really nice on you! And I like all your shoes ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving these adidas flats. They are so cute and those wings are just so cool on them :)
ReplyDeleteDora
I wrote them all down on paper and numbered them, that's why mine sem sporadic.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit! I'd never have thought you have cobblestones as well! I always wish they'd replace them with big stones or just pour cement over it! To count my shoes I mark the ones I wore on my complete collection picture, otherwise I'd forget it too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestions! I am keeping a list of the shoes I've worn, but sometimes when I'm in a hurry to get ready, I don't have time to look at it. I think I'll definitely have to start keeping track of my shoes properly, as I'm mostly relying on my memory at the moment!
ReplyDeleteoooh my sister has those same shoes, wrote a post about it (http://lifeisashoe.blogspot.com/2011/05/shoe-envy-jeremy-cott-for-adidas.html)
ReplyDeleteI want my own pair too - they are too cute!
