#25 - A day at home, and a tea party dilemma

It was nice to have a day at home today, even if somebody woke me up early, thinking that I had to go to work as per usual. There are so many things that happen during the day in my neighbourhood that I'm not even aware of, being at work all day every day. I'm pretty sure I heard someone playing the ukelele this afternoon. And I got to go and talk to my neighbour's dog, who is a real sweetie. I usually spend a fair bit of money on clothes, but now more than ever, it's easy to find cheap clothes that are nice. The dress I wore today didn't cost much at all, but I just love the style. I'm afraid that 50s style dresses are going out of fashion in favour of awful 70s clothes, which will mean that it won't be so easy to buy dresses I like anymore. I'll still continue to wear the ones I have, though.

One thing I've been considering lately is buying vintage dresses. I've never done that before, but as much as I love modern dresses made in a 1950s style, I find that they're usually too short! I am not a fan of short dresses, especially for work. I think that authentic 50s dresses would be a better length.
It's not the best photo, as I'd just gotten up, and I didn't have any make-up on. Anyway, today's shoes are from Milana, which I think is a David Jones (department store) brand, and I've had them for a few years. They're not completely flat, and they do have a slight heel.
I suppose my style of dress could be described as 'tea party', so when I actually do have to go to high tea, it's difficult to decide what to wear because there are so many options! I'm going on Sunday with some friends, and I've narrowed it down to these three dresses which I haven't worn yet:
What do you think? I'm tending towards the blue one, but my sister likes the one on the right (it's actually a slightly shiny lilac jacquard, but you really can't tell from this photo). I'm thinking it'll be a good opportunity to wear a dress that I probably wouldn't wear casually or to work.

  3. I always admire girls who wear beautiful dresses! As I myself don't feel myself good wearing them.. Your blue flowers dress is very cute.
And I really like the blue one out of the three!

  4. Your dresses are great! I find authentic vintage dresses just slightly too long for me since I'm not tall and all the fabric can be a bit overwhelming. I like just above the knee more than just under the knee. My vote is for the blue dress but they're all lovely.

  5. I'm voting for the blue one, too. And don't worry about your favourite dresses going out of fashion. I think you can wear them anytime you like ;)

  6. I love your dress! I find it so annoying that wearing a dress is considered 'totally dressed up'. I would wear dresses every day, just like you do (but I don't have many dresses, unfortunately).

And I read in another post hat you're a lawyer! I think you're the most stylish lawyer I've ever seen :)

  7. Thanks for your comments, girls! I did end up wearing the blue dress, but I hope I get a chance to wear the other ones soon too :)

Siel, I think lawyers have a bad reputation, but we're not all as boring as people expect! Although if I worked at a big private law firm I definitely wouldn't be able to dress the way I do, so I'm lucky in that respect :)
